5.2.4 Joint Merseyside Protocol For The Provision of Local Authority Accommodation

SCOPE OF THIS CHAPTER

This chapter reflects amendments to the process and procedure for detaining children aged 10 – 17 yrs who have been charged and denied bail. The aim is to safeguard children, who themselves are often vulnerable by accommodating children with the local authority rather than detaining them overnight in police custody.

The chapter contains a number of useful appendices including a process Flow Chart and Process Map as well as Emergency Duty Team numbers and DfE contact details for placing children in secure accommodation when the child is under 13 yrs.
